I’m writing to share some important news from the ASCA Board of Directors. As many of you are aware, the Board has been thoroughly discussing sites suitable for hosting ASCA’s National Specialty. During their April 9 meeting, after reviewing bids and specifications from sites in Colorado, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Texas, the Board voted unanimously to hold the 2022, 2023, and possibly the 2024 National Specialties at the Brazos Expo in Bryan, Texas.
The Brazos Expo offers the most user-friendly event site for our contestants, with all competitions under one roof (except for Dock Jumping and Tracking). This provides an opportunity for everyone to show and trial their dogs without concerns of safety due to inclement weather. The site requires no additional labor expenses for arena and stock pen setup. Bryan, Texas, is also the home of ASCA’s Business Office.
The Brazos Expo is the most cost-efficient site, with facility fees well below the other sites considered. The current situation related to COVID-19 has affected and will continue to affect ASCA’s ability to procure income for a yet undetermined period of time. Therefore, the Board considered the Brazos Expo site as a financially safe option for the next three years.
The intent at this time is not to commit to the Brazos Expo as a permanent site for ASCA’s National Specialty. The Board has conducted some research on a few sites that appear promising, but further investigation and a physical examination of the sites are necessary before committing to any of them. In the next three years, ASCA will have time to make informed decisions about those sites and gather data on the events at the Brazos Expo.
Please address any questions, comments, or concerns to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will share with the Board.
Take care, and stay safe,
